This painting is a watercolor inspired by a picture that I took of the famous Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. It is called Neuschwanstein Castle. I like how majestic and grand the palace is, but I find that the image’s true beauty lies in the forested hills around it. I hope to convey that with my artwork. I have been lucky enough to see Neuschwanstein a few times, and every time I visit it, it feels different somehow. I painted the castle and surrounding area because I really enjoy its beauty and tragic backstory. It was fun to convey since the scene is both regal and vibrant.
About the Artist

My name is Josie Gardner and I make art because the detail that it takes to create a piece helps me to cherish the detail of the world through understanding. In the future, I want to be an environmental scientist so that I can play a small role in protecting and preserving the planet. With my art, I want to communicate the way that what I am looking at makes me feel.
