The title of this piece is, “I wasn’t born to fight” I made 2 clay sculptures of a pit bull puppy and an adult pit bull dog to show how brutal dog fighting is. Pit bulls are seen as aggressive dangerous dogs but in reality, most people are forcing them to be aggressive. At young ages dogs are starved and forced to fight so that when they become adults they will fight better in the ring. All to make money. I made my art simple and child like as to make it easier to understand and talk about.
About the Artist

I wanted to make detailed sculptures that depicted the situation many animals face. However, as I was making my dog fighting cage, I wanted people to be able to feel comfortable in bringing up such a difficult topic. In makingart child-like, it invited a younger audience to the conversation. I brought that into my other works of art. Using a simple flower with a butterfly surrounded by trash to represent pollution or the bird confined to a small cage only to be looked at and not taken care of. I hope these works can act as a conversation starter for young and old, in the hopes of bringing awareness and change to advocate for more responsible behavior in the care of animal welfare. I don’t know where my art will take me but I know I will bring awareness to everyone.
