The Church of the Resurrection is located at St. Anne, Marylhurst, Oregon. The church underwent a significant 1980 renovation designed by architect Walter Gordon.
The renovation introduced several Post-Vatican II design elements, including a repositioned altar moved forward from its traditional location, removal of traditional altar rails, addition of an ambo for liturgical readings, a main entry featuring stained glass, and architectural stained glass lining both interior walls.
The altar incorporates folk art and features an altar cloth created by local artisans. A crucifix displaying the risen Christ serves as the focal point, accompanied by banners containing biblical verses. These elements reflect the integration of Christian symbolism and liturgical art practices.
Fr. John Domin served as the liturgical consultant for the 1980 renovation. He also created a calligraphed St. Francis banner that hangs from the church ceiling. The 1980 renovation represents a transition in Catholic church design following Vatican II, emphasizing accessibility and community participation through forward-facing altars and removal of physical barriers between clergy and congregation.
