Marienthal is an Alsatian village about 15 miles from Strasburg. The beautiful Carmelite chapel was home to both French and German nuns. Edwin Scharff is the sculptor of the bronze church door depicting the creed in pictoral emblems.

The cloister chapel has a beautiful altar and silver tabernacle with the Sacred Heart encircled by a crown of thorns.
